Here are five exclusive tips from experts on keeping your eyesight healthy and preventing diseases.<\/p>\n<h2>Go for an eye exam every year.<\/h2>\n<p>An annual comprehensive exam with an eye care professional may help identify eye problems early and potentially aid in preventing further complications. \u201cFor example, an eye exam can catch if your child has<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/connect-to-care\/lasik\/lasik-myopia-nearsightedness\">\u00a0myopia or nearsightedness<\/a>. This is important because if left untreated, myopia may lead to vision complications later in life,\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Wear sunglasses.<\/h2>\n<p>According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, UV-blocking sunglasses reduce the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/eye-health\/cataracts\/what-are-cataracts#1\">risk of cataracts<\/a>, retinal damage, and cancer. Make sure you have sunglasses or spectacles that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost prescription spectacles, even when not tinted, provide UV protection. UV light is damaging not only to the skin but to all layers of the eye.
